I’m Still Here

I figured I’d better write something as it’s been about 3 years since I last posted anything here. As you all know, this past year has been anything but normal. So many things that could have gone wrong did. It’s been a whirlwind for sure. Anyway, one of the many casualties of this year has been my (eternal) update to my 2015 version of The Railroad Man. Suffice to say that with so many things going on in my life these past 3 years, the novel was not a priority, and when I did find the time to work on it, it was not nearly enough. That and an almost manic series of ideas to change many of the changes I had made, or even to go back to some things as originally written just slowed things down even more. The last thing that hit me was a condition that developed in my right eye. It’s not very serious in that I am not going blind in my eye or am in any danger of losing it as it is related entirely to that old thing called aging. But it has created a distortion in my field of vision that makes working in front of a computer screen for long periods impossible, which just cuts into my already limited time that I can write down to just a couple of hours a day on a weekend. This brought progress on my rewrite down to an almost non-existent level. I want to deliver a superior, updated product to you guys very badly, but it looks like that may be a long time in coming. I will continue to slog on as I don’t quit very easily. I just don’t know how much longer it’s going to take me given the limitations I now have on both my time and my own physical condition. I will try to keep everyone posted on my progress and certainly hope it won’t be another 3 years before I do another update. But I will press onward and hope that I can get this done at some point next year. Anyway, I do wish everyone and early Merry Christmas and the hope that 2021 will be a far, far better year than 2020 has been. God bless and keep the faith. We will talk again soon!
